For special (throwaway) cases with deterministic serialization though, it may be practical. With RDF in the core of Drupal and RDFa output by default, it's dozens of thousands of websites which will all of a sudden start publishing their data as RDF. If practical, we should be looking at backporting features from Perl 6 to Perl 5, not just because it has an awesome feature set, but to help ease transition. Although this book covers a small market, I believe that the combination of Common Lisp and the AllegroGraph RDF data store is a great combination for developing knowledge intensive software.
